We have successfully achieved the ninth and the tenth project milestones, as we have successfully finished our support to CFM demonstrators and completed interoperability tests as well as analysis on Wireless Consist Network, Wireless DbD, 5G and Virtual Coupling. Further, the final results on communication, dissemination, exploitation and standardisation are available.

Issue 5 of Safe4RAIL-2 newsletter has been released, which is focused on the Safe4RAIL-2 results in CONNECTA-2 demonstrators and the final conference.

We have successfully achieved the eighth project milestone, as we have completed a preliminary analysis on advanced wireless technologies.

The Safe4RAIL-2 & CONNECTA-2 Final Conference will be organized as a virtual event on Wednesday, 30^th June 2021. The event offers a great opportunity to receive an insight into Next-Generation TCMS (NG-TCMS) solutions, establish a proactive and instructive dialogue with both projects partners and participate in the demonstrators. The Final Conference welcomes participants from railway undertakings, technology suppliers and manufacturers, safety experts, and authorities as well as academic participants in the domain of train control and communication systems. The registration, agenda and practical information will be available in due time.

A White Paper Time-sensitive Networking (TSN) Technology in the Next Generation of Train Communication Networks (TCN) has been published by Safe4RAIL-2 partners.

Issue 4 of Safe4RAIL-2 newsletter has been released, which is focused on the Safe4RAIL-2 components for CONNECTA-2 demonstrators.

Integration tests of the train inauguration through the Wireless Train Backbone (WLTB) were done between Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2, proving also the successful interoperability between CAF's and MOXA's Adapted-ETBNs. In addition, the traffic between the Adapted-ETBNs was routed through LTE-V2X radio devices provided by EURECOM. Due to Covid-19 these tests were done remotely, exchanging traffic between equipments located in CAF (Beasain), MOXA (Munich) and EURECOM (Sophia Antipolis) facilities.

We have successfully achieved the seventh project milestone, as the integration of network devices and HVAC subsystem in CFM demonstrators has been completed.

The six milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes the first prototypes of network devices, LTE equipment and HVAC function ready for integration in both CFM demonstrators.

Issue 3 of Safe4RAIL-2 newsletter has been released, which is focused on the functional distribution framework & simulation framework.

Our partner ETAS represented Safe4RAIL-2 at the embedded world 2020, which took place from 25^thth to 27^th of February, 2020 in Nuremberg, Germany. During these days, the Functional Distribution Framework demonstrator was displayed.

A general description of our Safe4RAIL-2 project and its goals and activities were released in a special issue of the 'El Economista' magazine, which is aiming at a non-specialized/non-technical audience. You can read the article in full at the El Economista website.

On 21^st of January 2020, the Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2 consortium met in Brussels, Belgium in order to present the project’s mid-term results on advanced architectures and components for next-generation TCMS to interested stakeholders. The results obtained in the 1^st year of these projects were presented, including first prototypes of NG-TCMS equipment. Technical presentations and talks were centralized around key technologies for NG-TCMS, such as Drive-by-Data, Functional Distribution Framework, and Wireless TCMS, which are available for download on the event site.

The fifth milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes the risk assessment plan (submitted on October 31st), as well as interim results on dissemination, communication, exploitation and standardisation. Find the public-accessible reports on the project website in section Deliverables

Interim version of deliverable related to dissemination activities that have been undertaken and those still planned as well as a report of completed and planned communication activities has been uploaded to the website.

Interim versions of deliverables related to Wireless Train Backbone (WLTB) and Wireless Consist Network (WLCN) technologies have been uploaded to the website. These deliverables include state-of-the-art reports on wireless technologies for both networks, as well as details on their building blocks.

The fourth milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes the completion of the designs of DbD network devices and wireless equipment, as well as the implementation of the HVAC subsystem and first interoperability tests of ETBNs for safe train inauguration.

From 3^th to 5^th of December 2019, an integration workshop between FDF and DbD was held at Siemens premises in Erlangen, Germany

On 27^th of November 2019, the second integration workshop of the HVAC application and CAF's FDF took place at CAF's premises in Beasain, Spain.

On 12^th and 12^th of November 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany.

Issue 2 of Safe4RAIL-2 newsletter has been released, which is focused on the project activities on wireless activities

On 16^th and 17^th of October 2019, an Open Air Interface (OAI) training took place at EURECOM's facilities in Sophia Antipolis, France. This training included lectures as well as hands-on workshops with OAI equipment.

On 9^th and 10^th of October 2019, the first integration workshop of the HVAC application and the AUTOSAR-AP FDF took place at Bombardier's premises in Hennigsdorf, Germany.

On 2^nd of October 2019, the 1^stsup> General Assembly of Safe4RAIL-2 took place in San Sebastian. In this meeting, the achievements of the first year of the project where presented and the next activities where planned.

On 1^st of October 2019, the 1st meeting of the Joint Advisory Board of CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 was held in San Sebastian, Spain. In this meeting, experts from different fields reviewed the results obtained so far in the projects and provided guidance for the upcoming activities.

From 19^th to 12^th of September 2019, a technical workshop was held between MOXA and WESTERMO at the facilities of WESTERMO in Västeras, Sweden, where the interoperability between ETBN devices of both manufacturers was tested for train inauguration.

The third milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes a final version of the requirements for wireless devices, as well as state of the art reports of wireless technologies for Wireless Train Backbone (WLTB) and Wireless Consist Network (WLCN).

On 24^th of July 2019, a coordination meeting on wireless activities was held between Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2 partners at Bombardier premises in Mannheim, Germany.

On 22^nd and 23^rd of July 2019, a workshop was held between CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 partners at ETAS premises in Munich, Germany, where a subset of the HVAC application was integrated on top of the Functional Distribution Framework.

On 17^th and 18^th of July 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to CONNECTA-2 partners at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany.

The second milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes the definition of requirements for Drive-by-Data devices and HVAC subsystem integrated on FDF and SF, as well as an interim version of the requirements for wireless devices.

On 18^th of June the 1st Executive Board meeting of Safe4RAIL-2 took place, where the main advances of the project where monitored.

On 12^th and 13^th of June 2019, a workshop was held between CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 partners at ETAS premises in Munich, Germany, in order to advance on the definition of the Application Programming Interfaces of the Functional Distribution Framework.

On 3^rd and 4^th of June 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2 partners at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany.

CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 projects met in CAF facilities in Beasain, Spain, on 27th, 28th and 29th May 2019 for the first TSN interoperability tests. Within these joint tests two different TSN IP cores to be used in Urban and Regional demonstrator of CONNECTA-2 project have been tested. These tests have validated the full interoperability of IP core deployed by TTTech, to be used in consist and train switches of the demonstrators, and the IP core from SoC-e to be used in the TSN controller deployed by CAF.

On 22^nd and 23^rd of May 2019, a workshop on OPC-UA was held between Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2 partners at Siemens premises in Erlangen, Germany.

On 14^th and 15^th of May 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to CONNECTA-2 partners at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany.

On 2^nd and 3^rd of May 2019, a workshop was held between CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 partners at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany, which was focused on the Application Programming Interfaces of the Functional Distribution Framework.

The first milestone of the project has been achieved, which includes the release of internal and external communication and data-management strategies, as well as the project handbook for quality assurance.

On 5^th and 6^th of March 2019, an Endpoint Integration Workshop was held in Liebherr premises in Korneuburg, Austria.In this workshop, the main guidelines for combining Drive-by-Data devices and the Functional Distribution Framework in railway endpoints were outlined.

On 7^th and 8^th of February 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to CONNECTA-2 partners at ETAS premises in Stuttgart, Germany.

On 10^th and 11^th of January 2019, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 partners at ETAS premises in Munich, Germany.

On 11^th and 12^th of December 2018, an AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform training was given to CONNECTA-2 and Safe4RAIL-2 partners at ETAS premises in Munich, Germany.

On 3^rd and 4^th of December 2018, Safe4RAIL-2 and CONNECTA-2 consortia met at Bombardier premises in Hennigsdorf, Germany, for technology handover from SAFE4RAIL and CONNECTA project results and starting coordination activities.

On 21^st and 22^nd of November 2018 the Safe4RAIL-2 consortium met for the kick-off meeting in Munich, Germany at premises of partner ETAS.

On 1^st of October 2018 Safe4RAIL-2 (Safe architecture for Robust distributed Application Integration in roLling stock 2) officially started.Under the lead of IKERLAN, the project team aims to develop a railway demonstrator where next-generation architecture and components for train control and monitoring systems (TCMS) will be integrated.
